COURSES- INFORMATION DESIGN - Photo and Books

Photo and Books

Prof.
Ki Ho Park
Grade
fourth-year student

This class will examine how poetically photographs can merge into a design concept. Whether you are designing a brochure for a start up company, a book for an artist, or an inventive, interactive-web design for a local bakery, photography is an important element. Often times, strong and well?thought?out photographs can uplift quality of your design. Each week you will be bombarded with a discussion of various designs that artfully combine photographs with the graphic element.

The first half of the semester you will be expected have a body of photographs that will become element of your design. Photographs can be of a place (example: Insadong), a person (even a self portrait), a company (bakery), or others. For the 2nd half semester, you are expected to design, of your choice, that can incorporate photographs with various elements, such as, creating company’s name, logo, and typeface.

For this intensive class, prerequisite of Photography Workshop (or you have taken a similar course and portfolio review), and Communicating with Type is required. If you persevere, you will harness an artistic sensibility that will guide you through out your endeavor. Good luck.
